What's wrong with my paintball gun?

you're probably not getting a good CO2 pressure behind the balls and they aren't getting shot out until the third or fourth ball like you've said. That would also explain why they are going a couple of feet. You may need a new hose, or the the spring in the firing pin isn't working well.
