How can i play my ipod in my mitsubish spyder?

Hi, im in Florida for vacation and got a new mitsubishi spyder as a rental car. I plugged my ipod into the auxiliary jack and turned the volume up but couldnt get it to play out the speaker. I saw options for changind cds, radio but no aux. button. Any idea what could be the issue?
